Guest Designer Entry for Artful Crafting - Challenge # 8 “Water coloring"

A Big Hello to My Craft Family,

First of all I would like to thank the DT that they gave me a chance as a guest designer to display my project.

Challenge # 8 is all about “Water coloring” - http://artful-crafting.com/wordpress/2015/11/challenge-8-water-coloring/. I have never used water colors in my craft projects before, so while I was working towards this project, I learnt a lot.

I decided to use Twinkling H2Os that I purchased from Artful Crafting. Initially my plan was totally about something else and I did tried but was not happy with the results.

After a few trials and errors, I finally had this Tag crafted. So my project are three tags, each rendered a different water color technique and placed together. This tag is inspired by the video by Sondra Dee Twinkling H2O Water Color Paint Techniques which I came across while "You Tubing" to learn proper water colouring techniques.

The craft hardware used is:

1.       Twinkling H2Os- Sunflower, Snap Dragon and Jengibre Melecoton
2.       Sizzix Tag Die
3.       Clear Embossing Powder – Rangers
4.       Starry Night Embossing Powder – Stampendous
5.       Vera Mark water mark ink pad
6.       Flutter stamps by lawn Fawn
7.       Handmade flowers, washi tape and ribbon

Now I would like to take my craft fellows about step by step approach for different techniques to use Twinkling H2Os.

1. The first approach is stamping. I stamped the image using Versa Mark water mark stamp pad and then heat embossed the image. Later I colored it on the inner side with Twinkling H2Os by simple paintbrush. Water brush pen can also be used.

2.  In the second approach I first heat embossed the images which were stamped using Versa Mark water mark stamp pad and clear embossing powder. Later I brushed the entire tag with Twinkling H2O. The area which has been covered by the clear embossing will not take up the color and will remain as such. While the place which uptake the color will be brilliantly colored.

3. The third technique is the easiest one; I just colored the tag with Twinkling H2O. Here I would like to tell you that Twinkling H2Os are the best thing to work woth when it comes to water coloring. They give you a very baeutiful and subtle shimer effect which we dont get with the use of the normal water colors.

4. The final step was to paste teh tags over one another.

"Hi" is the sentiment you can see used. I have used some washi tape, handmade flowers and ribbon for the finishing touches to the project.

I hope you have enjoyed my project. Do let me know of your views about it.

Thank you

Sobia

Project for Artful Crafting Challenge #6: Made With Alcohol Inks

Wait wait wait - 51 minutes remaining as the post closes - and the entire universe tried *what not* today...

So finally people here is my entry for Challenge 6: Made with Alcohol Inks - http://artful-crafting.com/wordpress/2015/09/challenge-6-made-with-alcohol-inks/ . This is a 4x4inches ceramic tile. I have liberally used Alchol Inks of Rangers Tim Holtz Adriondack Inks in Mermaid, Clover, Latte and Purple Twilight shades. Then I splattered alcohol blending solution and kept on repeating the Inks and Solution splashes until I was happy with what I have done (well as this was the first time, I wasted three tiles in process). After the base was set, I fixed it with lear laquer spray.

The sentiment for this project is "Live, Laugh, Love - Embrace Happiness". You can see a silver embellishment at the top left corner and the distressed sentiment tag below. I admit almost every project of mine had flowers in it, so for this I chose some light and dark purple flowers with a pink net beneath.

Ever since this challenge has been launched, it gave me goosebumps. First there were no Alcohol Inks and related material in my craft pandora, then after acquiring these from Artful, I did not know what to do with these. I am thankful to all my craft fellows for motivating and guiding me as to how to go about this one. That is why I Love My Lil Craft Family.

Hope you all like it. Since this is my first ever try with alcohol inks, please do let me know of your honest opinions. I believe the criticism will help me do it in a much better way in future.

Thank you all!

Artful Crafting - Challenge # 5 Brights

Hi there!

Still a day 3hrs and 37 minutes left for the collection to get closed. I am super duper happy that I made it.

A lil intro - I am Sobia Ali, A doctor by Profession and a paper crafter by hobby. I own a facebook page by the name of Jiya's Galleria where I post my crafting projects which are slowly coming up. All thanks to my responsibilties and crazy travel schedules.

This is my second entry in Artful Crafting Challenge. This time while I was thinking  what will I craft, at the same time my mind was boggling "How will I make a blog"?. Finally I have managed to make one and I am posting my entry.

The Challenge #5 is all about BRIGHT :) We were given a few inspirations which you can find at http://artful-crafting.com/wordpress/2015/08/challenge-5-brights/

We had to play around bright yellow, purple, pink, black OR Blue, white, pink, yellow etc. A minimum of three colors mentioned above excluding white and black should be clearly visible.

While I was making this, I realized I might be a personality of extremes :P ... last time my entry was loaded with craft elements and this time I have kept it very simple.

This my fellow crafters is a greeting card. I plan to give it to one of my dear friends at her farewell. The base is plain white. I have added Blue and Yellow glitter lines at the horizontal and vertical edges with the help of double side sticky tape and ultra fine glitter. I learnt this technique from online craft tutorials. I have used all time favourite Pink roses and stamped it with Lilac Rose shade with a sweet wish :). How this will be presented? Well in a Bright yellow envelope with blue glitter line and a cute lil Pink ribbon created to encase this lil magic.

I hope it catches your eye. Do let me know what you think of it :)

Much Love

Sobia
